Mr Durban too easily dismisses at least a few competent candidates in the field: Mr. Alexis, Mr. Baker and Mr. Voltaire to start. Each of these men has "run something" (which seems to be the only criteria for being a promising presidential candidate in Haiti according to the article) and has stated the case forcefully. This article reads like a thinly veiled endorsement of the useless and corrupt establishment. Fortunately, the word on the street is that a great many people see through the charade and supporting candidates other than Mr. Preval's.
